Hi! Thanks for stopping by.

I’m a professor of English at the Naval Academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There I teach f2f and online.

I have also taught at different language schools and worked as a teacher trainer. I have just started my doctorate in Linguistics and my main interests are discourse analysis, technology in f2f and distance learning, education & writing in EFL.

I hope you enjoy my blog! Let’s socialize.

Cheers,

Doris Soares

  1. Hey, was looking around Orkut for your e-mail address and found your blog. Educational tools have certainly evolved a lot since our teen-age days (was that so long ago? I fell Jurassic). Anyway, I try to use the web as a teaching tool too. It seems to improve their performance, but in the end, it´s still the student´s own drive that determines the outcome. So, maybe the web increases overall performance but doesn´t interfere with the grade curve?

  2. Dear Soares:
Hi, I’m Doris from Taiwan :)
I’m studying my MA Applied Linguistic and TESOL in Newcastle, UK.
    Recently I’ve read your article
‘Understanding class blogs as a tool for language development’ (2008, Language Teaching Research)
I’m interested in the Action6 class blog.
However, once I type the address (http://Action6. motime.com), it requires me to type in password.
Could you help me solving this technical problem?
And it’s my honour to read your future journals or books

    Best Regards
